Golfers began to arrive before sunrise at Quail Chase Golf Course on Wednesday, Oct. 3, for the revamped format of the Texas Roadhouse Armadillo Classic -- the most legendary golf event on the Louisville calendar. As it has in nearly every one of its 13 years the Armadillo Classic enjoyed a beautiful day for golf.
Because of the growth of the Armadillo Classic over the years, the event was divided into to sessions with one flight going off early in the morning and another hitting the course in the afternoon. In between, both groups were treated to a tremendous Texas Roadhouse pulled pork lunch, cooked in the new Texas Roadhouse mobile kitchen, a beautiful vehicle that looks like an RV on the outside, but is equipped like a full-service kitchen on the inside.
Also at lunch, golfers were addressed by two Special Olympics Kentucky athletes -- Kristen Stewart of Louisville and Luke Rutterer from Fort Mitchell, who thanked golfers and talked about their lives in Special Olympics.

In all, 44 foursomes took part in the morning session and 40 more took part in the afternoon, making this the largest Armadillo Classic in the event's history. It also set a new even record for funds raised for Special Olympics. Between the additional golfers and some truly amazing raffle items, including trips, catered dinners and a Big Green Egg grill, the 2012 Armadillo Classic raised an incredible $139,000 for Special Olympics.
Congratulations to the 2012 Armadillo Classic Champions. JP Morgan Chase won the morning flight, and RZ Marketing Group won the afternoon flight.
Our most sincere thanks to the wonderful people at Texas Roadhouse who continue to do such amazing work in support of our athletes. In addition to the Armadillo Classic, Texas Roadhouse supports events like the Plane Pull and Polar Plunge, and Texas Roadhouse
team members ("Roadies") volunteer at a number of Special Olympics competitions. We are thrilled to have them as one of our Year-Round partners.
