World Games Open in Shanghai

Competition Starts Tomorrow

After a year of waiting, planning and training, the Kentucky athletes who are a part of Team USA finally saw the 2007 World Summer Games open today in Shanghai.

The star-studded ceremonies, which included performances by Chinese and world-wide celebrities got underway at 7 am Eastern Time this morning. Performers included cellist Yo Yo Ma and other celebrity attendees included movie star Jackie Chan.

Opening Ceremonies photos will be available both on the World Summer Games Official Site and the Special Olympics Team USA Site.

The entire Opening Ceremonies will be rebraodcast in the United States on Thursday, Oct. 4 at 5 pm on ABC Family. Check your cable systems listing for channels.
