Just one year after the Plane Pull made its triumphant return to the Special Olympics Kentucky fundraising lineup, a second Plane Pull has been added to the list. In addition to the UPS PLane Pull in Louisville, there will be a Plane Pull in Northern Kentucky at the DHL Express Hub at Northern Kentucky/ Greater Cincinnati International Airport in Hebron. It marks the first return of a Plane Pull to Northern Kentucky in more than a decade and only the second time the event has been held there.
Both events will work exactly the same way. Teams of 20 will raise the minimum of $1,000/team (or $50 per team member) and then test their strength in a game of tug-o-war with a Boeing 757 cargo plane. The team that pulls the plane 12 feet in the fastest time wins. Champions will be crowned in men's, women's and co-ed divisions and prizes will also be awarded to the team with the most team spirit and the one with the best team t-shirt, as well as to the top individual fundraiser and the top fundraising team.
The Plane Pull is a perfect team-building experience for any company or organization, but teams can just as easily be made up of family members, neighbors or any other group. One of last year's Louisville winners was a team from a local fitness facility. There are no limits as to who can be a part of this fun and exciting day.
