The 2013 Special Olympics Kentucky Pull season saw a new event added to the schedule with the inaugural DHL Plane Pull. The 2014 season promises to make the now two Special Olympics Kentucky Plane Pulls bigger and better than ever.
The DHL Plane Pull returns for its second go round at the DHL Hub at Northern Kentucky/Greater Cincinnati International Airport on Saturday, September 20.
The 2014 UPS Plane Pull will be held two weeks later on Saturday, October 4, at Atlantic Aviation in Louisville.
Both events feature teams of 20 from business and organizations from throughout the state vying to see who can pull a massive Boeing 757 cargo plane 12 feet in the shortest time. Awards are presented in men's, women's and co-ed categories. There are also prizes for the top fundraising team, top individual fundraiser, top Special Olympics Athlete fundraiser and for the team with the most team spirit and with the best Plane Pull team T-shirt.

The 2013 Plane Pull season came to an end after a pair of extremely successful events.
The second UPS Plane Pull presented by ResCare since the event was able to return to Atlantic Aviation in Louisville showed some great signs of growth when it was held on Sept. 28. Nearly 40 teams -- including a good mix of returning teams and newcomers -- helped to raise more than $115,000 for Special Olympics Kentucky.
The inaugural DHL Plane Pull at the DHL Express hub at CVG Airport in Northern Kentucky saw teams brave a driving, cold rain to pull that 757 on Saturday, Oct. 19. It also saw an incredibly generous donation from DHL. During the event's Opening Ceremonies, DHL presented SOKY with a check for $20,000 in addition to the money raised by their teams for the event. In all, the first Northern Kentucky event raised more than $50,000.

The Plane Pull is a perfect team-building experience for any company or organization, but teams can just as easily be made up of family members, neighbors or any other group. One of last year's Louisville winners was a team from a local fitness facility. There are no limits as to who can be a part of this fun and exciting day.
