The winning ticket in the 2007 Special Olympics Kentucky Harley-Davidson Raffle was drawn on Saturday, August 4 at the Ride to Win and for the fifth time in six years that ticket belonged to a Central Kentuckian.
This year, Special Olympics athlete and Global Messenger Danny Haley pulled a ticket belonging to Pam Keefer of Winchester out of the drum at the conclusion of the Ride to Win at Eastern Kentucky University.
Keefer posted two firsts in the history of the Special Olympics Harley Raflle. She became the first winner ever to have purchase the ticket on the day of the drawing and she became the first to accept cash in place of taking the motorcycle in the first year that cash was made an option.
Keefer bought her ticket from Madison County Special Olympics athletes and volunteers at the conclusion of the Ride to Win. She left the Alumni Coliseum parking lot at Eastern Kentucky University just 15 minutes before her winning ticket was drawn.
Keefer joins Gary Dehner (2002), Valerie Odo (2003), Ralph Thompson (2004) and Matthew Whittaker (2005) among Central Kentuckians who have won the raffle in its six-year history. Last year's winner, Bill Unseld, was a Louisville resident.
Our thanks to Man O War Harey-Davidson for their continued support of the Harley Raffle and to everyone who bought and who helped sell tickets this year. Nearly $40,000 was raised for Special Olympics through this effort.
