"March Magic" Returns as State Basketball Tourney Hits Floor This Weekend
March Magic returns to Kentucky March 2-4 when the 2012 Special Olympics Kentucky State Basketball Tournament returns for its 37th year in Louisville. For the second consecutive year, all Tournament games will be held under the same roof, with more than 400 athletes packing the Hoops facility, located at 12101 Sycamore Station Place, for the weekend. State Cheerleading Competition Rejoins With Cheersport on March 10
For the second consecutive year, Special Olympics Kentucky will partner with Cheersport to help stage its State Cheerleading Competition. The 2012 State Cheerleading Competition will be held Saturday, March 10, at Heritage Hall in downtown Lexington in conjunction with that day's Cheersport competition. More |

2012 Polar Plunges Break Participant Record, Raise $725,000
Another record-breaking Polar Plunge season is in the books for Special Olympics Kentucky. This year, 3,164 brave Polar Bears hit the water to support Special Olympics. It was the first time in the Plunge's 14-year history in Kentucky that the events had more than 3,000 participants, topping last year's record by nearly 200 people. This year was also only the second year that the Polar Plunges have raised more than $700,000 in Kentucky, with a combined total of more than $725,000 raised. More |

Warren, Ware Named SOKY Athlete, Coach of the Year for 2011
Versailles gymnast and cheerleader Oana Warren and Spencer County Local Coordinator Lynn Ware have been named Special Olympics Kentucky 2011 Athlete and Coach of the Year, respectively. Kentucky Has Great Success With 2012 Scarf Project
Special Olympics Kentucky participated in the 2012 Special Olympics USA Scarf Project. Handmade scarves from across the U.S. were donated to different states as a symbol of unity, support, compassion, and empowerment. The scarves were donated to SOKY, and athletes, coaches and volunteers wore these scarves at our State Winter Games. More |
