More than 1,200 "SOKY Strong" Special Olympics Kentucky athletes will return to the Eastern Kentucky University campus in Richmond June 1-3 for the 2012 Special Olympics Kentucky State Summer Games. Healthy Athletes Screening

With its Healthy Athletes program, Special Olympics bridges the gap between accessible health care and peak athletic performance for our athletes by providing free screenings in a number of health disciplines – Opening Eyes (vision), Special Smiles (dental), Fit Feet (foot health) and FunFitness (physical therapy, balance and flexibility). Screenings are provided by trained volunteer healthcare workers during Special Olympics Kentucky’s State Summer Games. More

Ian Powers, from Daviess County, is in his second year participating with Special Olympics Kentucky. For the past two years, Ian has participated on the Daviess County Water Rockets swim team. Ian swims the 25-meter Backstroke, 25-meter Freestyle, and the 4X25-meter Unified Freestyle Relay. More
