Special Olympics would not exist today without the time, energy, commitment and enthusiasm of people just like you. Volunteers are an important part of a global movement that provides athletes with intellectual disabilities the excitement, joy and personal fulfillment associated with sport training and competition.
Volunteers are the backbone of Special Olympics, and we need you! Special Olympics Kentucky is looking for anyone wanting to help make a difference in the lives of our athletes, whether you're a corporation looking for an employee team-building exercise, a social or religious group looking to have a greater involvement in your community, or a family or individual who wants to make a difference in the world. Volunteering for Special Olympics Kentucky can create a lifetime of friendships and rewards of immeasurable value, both for you and the athletes inspired by your time and dedication.
There are two levels of Special Olympics Kentucky Volunteers -- which one is right for you?
- Class B/Event Volunteers are people who assist in event planning and/or participate at SOKY events, but are not necessarily in contact with the athletes on a regular basis. This includes: Day of Event Volunteers, Office Volunteers and Fundraising Events Volunteers. Get Involved Now
- Class A/Certified Volunteers have daily interaction with athletes and are in a position of authority, supervision and trust. These types of volunteers include: Coaches, Chaperones, Unified Partners, Games Management Team Members, Heads of Delegations and Area Directors. Get Involved Now
Whether you are coaching an athlete or helping with paperwork, handing out awards or celebrating a victory, timing a runner or escorting them onto the track-you are touching the lives of people with intellectual disabilities and creating a positive change in the world. No matter the amount of time you can commit to is a little or a lot, there is a volunteer opportunity waiting for you!
